Dr. M. B. Puranik, Co-founder- Sharada Group of Institutions, with his unwavering commitment and shared vision with Sri. G. Haridas Acharya built and developed the Sharada Group of Institutions at Mangalore. Dr. Puranik stood as a steadfast companion contributing significantly to the envisioning of the future prospects and growth of the Sharada Group.
Dr M. B. Puranik, who retired as a Professor in Botany in 2004, is a distinguished figure in the field of education. He stands as the visionary force behind the transformation and expansion of Sharada Educational Institutions. Under his leadership and guidance, this Group of Institutions flourished and evolved into a comprehensive educational centre with ten institutions spread across four campuses catering to more than 10,000 students. Furthermore, his deep-rooted faith in the Indian Knowledge System of holistic well-being propelled him to build and develop the Ayurveda and Yoga & Naturopathy hospitals and Medical Colleges. The expansion in higher education also includes a Degree college for careers in Commerce, Computer Science, Animation, etc. The establishment of the residential school at Talapady to help parents take care of their wards in a better way, and the establishment of a CBSE school at Vamanjur to help the economically weaker sections of the society may be considered as major milestones in the history of the Sharada Group. Dr M. B. Puranik’s efforts ensured that students had access to modern education with the core being Indian values and cultural diversities within the institutions, fostering the growth and development of the nation.
Dr. M.B. Puranik is also a recipient of the prestigious 2010 "Karnataka Rajyotsava Puraskar.” He achieved the remarkable milestone of being conferred an honorary doctorate in 2023 by Mangalore University, a testament to his outstanding contributions in the field of education. Widely regarded as an idealistic, principled, and assiduous individual, Dr M.B. Puranik played a pivotal role in the establishment and growth of the Sharada Group of Institutions.
Founder President The principal architect of Sharada Educational Institutions, Late Sri G. Haridas Acharya, was an exemplary person. He was not only kind, able, persevering and far sighted but also a visionary who visualized an Institution where traditional and progressive methods of teaching harmonize with each other. This concept came into fruition with the establishment of Tulunadu Educational Trust in 1992. Over the years, Sri Haridas Acharya actualized his vision into four well known Educational Institutions, the latest of which is Sharada Yoga & Naturopathy Medical College & Hospital - his ultimate dream that promises steady growth based on regular up-gradation and modernization of standards.
